PORCH CHATS: Great Conversations You’ll Overhear at Heartwood Commons
Porch Sitting with Alice

Our porch chat came on a cloudy, warm, humid morning, just before the rain. She shows me the raised beds planted with herbs and blackberries, which she explained, were fertilized with elephant dung from the zoo! Other spots in her yard had daffodil greens, budding daylilies, a pergola with a massive wisteria vine and hostas surrounding a bubbling fountain pond. In this oasis we sit and chat while she knits a purple scarf that will be given to her sister. In addition to her gardening skills, Alice is a talented seamstress who has worked for several years in costuming for Theatre Tulsa. She is currently sewing facemasks for family, friends and members of Heartwood Commons, along with costumes for a pageant. What an asset to our community with so many talents. We are looking forward to living alongside her. Maybe we can create one of those ponds in the southwest corner? And her advice on obtaining zoo-doo will come in handy for our gardens.
