Darlene greets us from her front porch. She is enjoying the day sitting by her very calm collie, Ace and her wiggly cavalier King Charles spaniel, Charlie. Darlene explained that Ace was bequeathed to her by a friend of the family, along with an endowment for his “care.”  “He doesn’t eat much,” she quipped. While Charlie is a more recent addition to her family. Another dog, a golden doodle, Trixie, refused to join us on the porch. Charlie was happy to pose in a red wagon, refurbished by her late husband, which Darlene uses for carting things around and displaying pots of flowers. Darlene can see herself taking Charlie and Trixie to the dog park at Heartwood Commons and using the wagon to bring groceries from the car to her “right sized” house. Visitors to her porch will surely enjoy Ace’s calm demeanor.
